THE KNIGHTACADEMY

A LITTLE HELP, RIGHT HERE

Questions are a good place to start.

Find the next step for accounts, payments, lessons and your learning workspace.

Where are video lessons and how do they count as watched?

Choose Video lessons in your portal. Teachers can upload up to 500 MB or embed YouTube, Vimeo or direct video-file links, preview a draft, add accessible materials and publish it. Load a video explicitly; it never starts automatically. Students can pause, rewind and resume. Forward seeks into unwatched content are corrected. Saved progress and a full end-of-playback event are required before the lesson is marked watched. Hidden tabs and interrupted connections pause tracking. A teacher can approve transcript-based or other alternative learning separately; that does not mark the video watched. Browser playback records cannot prove attention.

Which new accessibility controls are available?

Open the accessibility button or press Alt+Shift+A. Text can grow up to 200%. Choose high-contrast, dark or warm colours; underline links; enlarge touch targets; strengthen focus outlines; reduce decoration; or enable a reading ruler/window. Existing reading font, text spacing, reduced motion and browser read-aloud remain available. Videos can include captions, transcripts and described or signed alternatives provided by teachers. Use Accessibility help for details and to report a barrier.

How do I explore my portal for the first time?

Your first visit offers a guided portal quest with clickable navigation steps. It takes about 5–8 minutes, can be skipped, and ends after 10 minutes. Student and teacher guides are different. Replay it from Help & profile. Completion is remembered for your account.

Where are my revision priorities?

Revision priorities uses up to three recent quiz or timed-practice checks per topic to suggest focus areas. Add a topic to your private planner or open relevant practice. No results are invented before you take a check.

How do timed mock exams save my answers?

Choose Timed mock exams. The server sets your deadline and saves answers as you work. Resume the same attempt from its list on another device. Leaving the page does not pause time. After the deadline, only the last saved answers are marked. Short foundation mocks are not full CAPS or IEB examination papers.

How does the curriculum tracker work?

Choose CAPS or IEB, then record your own topic readiness. Teacher confirmation is shown separately. Starter topics are broad planning categories; your teacher adds your school-specific scope. The tracker does not certify exam readiness.

Where is my annotated assignment feedback?

Open Assignments and choose View marked work after review. Rubric scores, teacher feedback and numbered page comments appear privately. Load a PDF or image preview to see highlights and download a feedback report.

Can I study without an internet connection?

Choose Offline study packs and select academy-uploaded resources. Prepare and keep the downloaded HTML file; it contains saved copies that open without internet. Packs support up to 10 files, 10 MB per file and 30 MB total. Publisher links still need internet. Keep private downloaded copies off shared devices.

Can I choose email updates and quiet hours?

Open Your updates and save your email categories and quiet hours in South African time. Optional emails wait for an eligible delivery run outside quiet hours. In-app updates remain available. Account activation and recovery emails are separate. Email delivery needs the academy’s configured sending service.

Where are the reading and accessibility settings?

Choose the floating Accessibility and reading settings button, or press Alt+Shift+A. You can enlarge text, increase contrast and spacing, use a simple reading font or reduce motion. Read aloud uses your browser’s speech service when supported. Select text first to read a selection. These preferences are saved in this browser.

Who can see my lesson feedback?

Your reflection is private to you, the teacher who taught the lesson and the academy owner. It opens after the lesson ends and attendance is recorded as present or late. You can edit it for seven days or withdraw the written feedback. Parents, classmates and public tutor pages do not receive these reflections.

How does low-data mode work?

Use the Low data switch in the header (or on the home page). It remembers this browser’s preference, uses system fonts and stops automatic portal, chat and parent-report refreshes. Open a document only when you want to download it, and use Refresh for new updates.

Where are past papers and memos?

Choose Past-paper library in the portal. Search by topic, subject, year, board or language. Save papers to your list or add them to your study plan. Official DBE documents open on the original publisher’s website. Teachers can add authorised PDF papers and memoranda or publisher links.

Is my study planner private?

Yes. Your personal sessions, notes, exam dates and completion status belong to your account. Teachers and parents do not see your private plan. The planner also shows your relevant class deadlines and lessons. A personal study task does not book a lesson.

How are quizzes marked?

Choose Quizzes & practice and start a diagnostic check or practice quiz. Submit your answers to receive server-marked results, explanations and topic feedback. Results are saved to your account and can inform revision sessions. Foundation checks are not grade-specific exams, and practice results stay separate from formal assignment marks. Teachers can see relevant check-ins; approved parents can see their own learner’s recent check-ins.

How do I get a student account?

Complete registration and the R150 once-off PayFast payment. Once payment is verified, we request an activation email. Open the latest link and choose your own password.

What does registration pay for?

The R150 is a once-off registration fee, separate from monthly tuition. Grade 10 costs R1,800 per subject per month, Grade 11 R2,000 and Grade 12 R2,500. Choose two or more subjects for 20% off the full monthly tuition subtotal. Pay registration first, activate your account, then pay tuition through the portal. Each verified PayFast tuition payment gives one calendar month of learning access. Renew monthly; this checkout does not arrange automatic deductions.

I paid but cannot sign in. What should I do?

Use the same email you registered with. Check your spam folder and request a fresh activation email from the login page. If access is still locked, contact the academy with your payment reference. Never send card details or passwords.

How do I book or change a lesson?

Sign in and choose Book & manage times. Available slots can be booked directly. You can also request a lesson from Live lessons. A requested time change is confirmed only when your teacher approves it. All times are SAST.

How do online lessons work?

Your teacher adds a Google Meet, Zoom or Teams joining link. Open it from Live lessons and use Add to calendar if you want a reminder in your own calendar. Video meetings run with the linked provider.

Who can I chat with?

Paid, active students can contact academy teachers and classmates who share their grade and a subject. Subject channels are matched to your subjects and grade. Teachers can create channels. You can block direct contacts and report messages.

How do teachers join?

The academy owner invites a teacher by email and assigns subjects. Public student registration cannot grant teacher permissions.

What can I upload?

Learning resources can be up to 500 MB per file. Assignment attachments and student homework can be up to 100 MB. Supported types include PDF, images, Office documents, TXT, CSV and ZIP. Large resources upload in smaller parts. If your connection drops, select the same file in the same browser and retry within 24 hours to resume saved parts. Cancel removes the unfinished upload.

Can a parent or guardian give permission?

Students can nominate a guardian under Help & profile. A separate verification link is sent to the guardian when the academy’s notification-email service is connected. Guardian permission does not grant access to private chats.

How do parents see learning progress?

Ask the academy owner to approve your relationship to the learner and invite your own parent email. Activate the account, open Parent progress and accept the learner link. Reports include marks, teacher feedback, actual attendance and upcoming lesson times. Parents cannot read private chats or change learning records. A learner’s nomination alone does not grant parent access.

What if I lose my phone or verification method?

Sign in with your academy email, then open Account security. If you previously saved recovery codes, expand Lost access to your usual method? and use one complete code. Each code works once and gives temporary access for up to 15 minutes to set up and verify a replacement method. It does not reset your password or change payment access. Create ten codes after verifying a regular method and save them privately. Replacing a set invalidates every old code. The academy cannot show your saved codes again; never send a code to support.

How do I protect my account?

Use your own email and a unique password. The security centre offers authenticator, email-code and international text-message choices. Email and SMS need the academy’s connected sending services and a verified destination before they become active. Choose your country and mobile number for SMS; delivery depends on coverage and local rules. Never share your password or sign-in codes.

Still need a hand?

Signed-in students and teachers can track a request under Help & profile. If you cannot access your account, email the academy. Response times depend on tutor availability; we will confirm the next step with you.
